Designer Neeta Lulla and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali purchased approximately 600 saris from all over Kolkata; Paro’s extraordinary character was born.
Different sarees were mixed to create each look of Paro. The drape is also an important part of the appearance, because the sarees are usually 6 meters in length, but the length of the sarees designed for Paro is 8 to 9 meters.
Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in this blue silk Bengali saree. There is gold embroidery all over the saree. One cannot miss the royal jewellery, which adds a divine touch to this look, the choker necklace, rani haar, and jhumkaas.
Aishwarya Rai sported a sleek bun, kohl eyes, and a bold red bindi to complete the Bengali look.
No one can forget the stunning bridal look of Aishwarya Rai in the Jodha Akbar movie. She looked royal and elegant in those Mughal-inspired attires and jewelry.
Neeta Lulla designed this work. Before creating the entire crew of this film, the designer conducted extensive research on the clothing, jewelry, fabrics and everything of the Mughal era.
She used rich brocades and silk for the Jodha character.
The bridal attire Aishwarya Rai is wearing here is red, the color of every Indian bride. Lehenga has embroidery of Zardozi, Kundan, and gota work. She is wearing chokers, multi-layered neckpieces, Matha pati, etc. The color scheme of the costumes is chosen as per the Mughal era.
Padmavati’s Deepika Padukone is another example of a classic Bollywood royal bride. The costumes for Padmavati have been designed by Delhi-based designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula. These designers did extensive research on 13th-century royal costumes
This royal lehenga is multi-layered and decorated with jewel tones. A lot of gota patti work is also done on it.
Again, no royal look is complete without royal jewelry. Lehenga pairs with layered necklaces, gold jhumkis and the nathni.
This elegant, timeless Muslim bridal look by Anuskha Sharma is from the movie Ae Dil hai mushkil.
Here Anuskha Sharma is wearing a Manish Malhotra piece weighing around 17kg. The lehenga had red, pink, peach, and golden colors on it.
The most distinguishing part of the lehenga was the long trail dupatta. The choli had heavy thread work done on it.
It was accompanied by a polka set along with a Jhummar; essential for a Muslim bride. And to go along with this was a nude makeup look with a low-key bun and kohl eyes.
Here comes the modern bride of today, costumed with minimal embroidery and minimal jewelry, still rocking it out.
In Two States Alia’s bridal look was that of a completely “girl-next-door” look. She wore here an orange and pink tinted kanjivaram lehenga along with a light embroidery brocade blouse.
A gold waist band is used to tie the light chunni or dupatta.
This look completes with some very basic gold jewelry. We are in absolute awe with this minimal bridal look.
These stunning brides of Bollywood still inspire brides of any age to experiment with their looks on their big day. They inspire them to go from dramatic to subtle makeup, to wear lehenga, sarees to gowns, to wear heavy to light jewelry.
