Importance of Skin Care in Summer –
Summers are all about vacations, having pool parties and beach days. While we enjoy the hot days outside, but our skin doesn’t. The scorching heat, harmful UV rays can cause severe damage to our skin.
With summer come many skin problems. We face extreme sun tan, sun burns, acne eruptions, clogged pores etc. just to name a few of them. So, its very important to take extra care of your skin during summers. This does not involve only applying sunscreens and drinking lots of water.
What to do?
But to keep a glowing skin in summers you need to follow a healthy summer skin care routine. While all of them may not apply for you depending on the place you live but some of them are mandatory for all.
Here is a complete Step by Step skin care routine for summers:

- Face Wash – During hot and humid summers, it is mandatory to wash your face 2 to 3 times a day. When you wake up in the morning make sure to wash your face with good face wash.
In summers the sebaceous gland produces excess sebum, which leads to clogged pores. Because of this our skin becomes bumpy in summers. To avoid this you wash your face more than in any other season of the year.
- Develop a healthy skin care routine – For healthy skin one should develop a routine and stick to it. Cleansing, toning, moisturising twice a day will keep the skin well hydrated and fresh.
People with dry skin should opt for gel-based products whereas people with oily skin should go for water based products.
Always avoid cream based products during summers. Keeping your skin light is the key during summers.
- Include antioxidants in your skin care – Antioxidants does wonders for your skin health. Most importantly they are collagen boosters. Collagen plays the most important role in maintaining the elasticity of your skin.
Also, it protects the skin from the environmental damage. Best source of antioxidants to be included in our skin regime is vitamin C serum.
It is not only a rich source of anti oxidants but also helps in reducing the pigmentation caused by harmful UV rays. This also reduces the appearance of fine lines and controls hyperpigmentation.
- Keep Your Skin Hydrated – Hydration is the key to good health in any season. And in summers it needs water more than ever. So drink a lot of water.
You can also include fruit juices, butter milk etc in your daily diet.
Carry a good facial mist to hydrate your skin while you are out for work.
- Use Sunscreen – This is a factor everyone is aware of. Use of sunscreen with SPF 30 and higher is recommended for all the exposed body parts.
You can even use a moisturiser with SPF 30 or more on a regular basis.
- Exfoliate – It is important to exfoliate once a week in order to remove all the dirt hidden in the pores.
In summers due to excessive sweating our pores of the skin get clogged twice or thrice more than what it does in any other season. Because of this we tend to have a bumpy skin, especially face area.
In order to avoid this situation, exfoliation becomes mandatory in summers in to remove excess oils from your skin.
- Use Light weighted products – During summers we should use light products on our skin. For Ex – we should avoid using heavy makeup or thick creams on our face and body.
If you have oily skin then use water based creams and if you have dry skin then go for gel based products.
